Sen. Mark Warner is polling well ahead of both Republican candidates for Virginia governor.

If U.S. Senator Mark Warner (D-Va.) decides he wants to run for governor again in 2013, he would begin the campaign as the overwhelming favorite, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today.

Warner hasn't said if he wants to run, but right now, he enjoys the kind of lead most candidates would envy.

"Our survey shows Warner leading Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling by 53 to 33 percent and he leads Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli by 52 to 43 percent," says Tim Malloy, with the Quinnipiac Polling Institute.

Terry McAuliffe, the former DNC Chair who announced his intention to run last Thursday, also led the Republican candidates, Malloy says, but by a smaller margin.

The poll surveyed about 1,400 registered voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus 2.6 percent.
