A student was arrested Monday afternoon after police say he threatened to shoot people on the campus of Montgomery College in Rockville, Md.
School spokeswoman Elizabeth Homan says the 19-year-old allegedly told other students he was going to "shoot up the campus." She says a group of students notified campus security, and they contacted local police.
"They indicated they were speaking to a student, who indicated he was upset over a breakup and 'felt like shooting people,'" says Homan.
The student was found on campus a short time later, unarmed. A search of his vehicle yielded no weapons.
He was arrested by the Rockville City Police, who issued what's called a "letter of trespass," which says the student can't come on college property for 3 years, unless given permission by institution.
