Nationals' Davey Johnson talks at a press event in May 2012.

After a record-setting year, mixed with extreme highs and extreme lows, National's Manager Davey Johnson gets one more chance to show 'em what he's got.

He will spend one more year as manager, and then move into a consultant role for the 2014 season.

Johnson, 70, had coached the team all the way to a fifth game in the postseason -- the farthest any Major League Baseball team in Washington had gone since the early 1930s.

The Nationals' illustrious bid for the World Series came to a screeching halt when pitcher Drew Storen, leading with two outs left in the ninth inning, threw 13 pitches that allowed their opponents, the St. Louis Cardinals, to score enough runs to win the game.

Johnson is one of three finalists for the National League manager of the year award. The winner will be announced on Tuesday.
