D.C. Residents Face Three Charter Amendments On Ballot

D.C. residents head to the polls today to vote on local and national races, as well as several charter amendments.

The District's three electoral votes are up for grabs, as well as several council seats — and many local political observers will be closely watching the at-large race.

There are three charter amendments on the ballot — a result of last year's ethics overhaul. One measure would make it easier for a council member to be expelled for gross misconduct; the other two deal with officials who are convicted of felonies and whether they should be disqualified from holding office.

This is also the first presidential election in D.C. that has had early voting. D.C.'s Board of Elections says more than 55,000 people took advantage of early voting this year.

The polls close at 8 p.m. today.
