The Taste of D.C. kicks off in Washington this weekend, with one of Donald Trump's former apprentices at the helm.

Native Washingtonian Steuart Martens comes from a long line of D.C. entrepreneurs, famed mostly for auto dealing. But he's making a name for himself as the producer of "Taste of D.C."

"It's not everyday you can throw a party on Pennsylvania Avenue for the community that's between the Capitol and White House," says Martens.

Now in his third year producing the benefit for military personnel and their families, Martens first gained fame on Donald's Trumps the Apprentice.

"Prior to leaving to the Apprentice, the Taste of D.C. stuff was already in motion, in gea," says Martens. "It was just a great opportunity to leverage what was going on, but also bring in some local charities."

So has 'The Donald' influenced his management style? Martens says he runs his production office a lot like the reality show, giving workers 12 hours to complete projects, before a review.

"The first week you get in here, we really throw you down the gauntlet to make sure that you can handle the stress and pressure of this job, because throwing a festival for 500,000 people is a mega job," he says.

Martens and crew work year-round to pull-off the event which fills Pennsylvania Ave. between 9th and 14th streets this weekend Saturday through Monday.
