The Washington National Cathedral will commemorate the anniversary of Sept. 11 with prayers.

Washington National Cathedral plans to mark the 11th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks with prayers at its regularly scheduled services that day, rather than hold a larger commemoration event.

The interim dean of the cathedral says they will again mark the anniversary with prayers for the victims and for military service members. But Rev. Dr. Francis Wade says part of the church's ministry is to help the country heal and move past the tragedy of 9/11.

In past years, the cathedral hosted a larger commemoration that included presidents and other leaders. But this year the cathedral will hold regular worship services on Tuesday, starting with Holy Eucharist and a morning prayer service. The cathedral also hosts a noon service.
