Maryland Teen Sentenced To 60 Years For Murder

A teenager from Maryland is sentenced to 60 years for the murder of his elderly neighbor in Prince George's County.

William Roger Fitts grew up across the street from 92-year-old Thelma Steele, a woman neighbors describe as a nice, spry, beautiful lady who still did her own grocery shopping.

Prosecutors say they don't know a motive for the August 2011 murder.

Fitts, now 16 years old, admitted to stabbing Steele several times with a pocket knife. They say he stole her purse, cash and credit card, which he used to buy "organic" marijuana from the Internet.

Sixty years behind bars was the maximum sentence Fitts could have received.
