Republican delegates from the region are eager to get to work in Tampa, Fla., after Monday's events were canceled because of Tropical Storm Isaac.
The District is heavily Democratic, but that just makes politically active Republicans in the city a tighter group. David Trebing is an alternate delegate from the District. The federal city has only 19 delegates, but Trebing says size doesn t matter: "We're small but proud!"
Delegates got Monday off from most of their official duties, and with it turning into a beautiful sunny day, most visitors saw some sights instead of politicking. With Monday's events getting rolled into the rest of the week, that sense of leisure likely won't last.
"Now with the revision to the schedule, I think it's going to be a very compressed schedule," says Trebing.
