Maryland police say a man from Glen Burnie called a child support enforcement office and threatened to commit a "Batman-style" shooting in reference to last month's mass shooting in a Colorado movie theater, reports the Associated Press.

James Armstead, 37, was arrested Friday and charged with threatening to injure a state official and two counts of telephone misuse.

Annapolis police say Armstead called the state Office of Child Support Enforcement and threatened to kill employees and himself. He said he would use an AK-47 or other military-style weapons.

Police searched his home and found no weapons. However, police say they found evidence that Armstead was inquiring about how to obtain an AK-47.

Armstead is being held on $60,000 bond.
