The U.S. Department of Transportation has issued BWI-Marshall Airport a grant to improve some of their runways.

Baltimore Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport has been awarded a federal grant to improve and upgrade runaways, reports the Associated Press.

The $12 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used for the first phase of bringing Runway 10-28 up to Federal Aviation Administration safety standards.

The project will include improving the pavement, expanding the shoulder and erecting new signs. Construction is set to start in August and be finished by September.
