Traffic to Delaware beaches is not uncommon, but the added surge of festival-goers could gridlock roads.

Transportation officials in Delaware say a huge outdoor music festival taking place in Dover this weekend could add about 60,000 vehicles to the already-crowded weekend commute to the coast.

The first annual Firefly festival will give tens of thousands of music lovers a thrill of lifetime, as more than 50 bands including headliners, the Black Keys, the Killers, and former White Stripes frontman Jack White all scheduled to perform at the three day festival in an 87 acre field next to the Dover International Speedway.

But transportation officials in Delaware say they are going to do their best to ensure that traffic isn t a nightmare for festival goers, and for others who are planning a trip to the coastal resorts nearby.

There will be a few closures and detours put up around the event, and regular traffic patterns will resume at the end of each day s music lineup.

Authorities urge motorists to use caution and plan ahead if your trip to the beach includes any travel on Maryland 404, or Highway 1 in Delaware.

E-Cigarettes and Vaping

Last week, the D.C. Council voted to designate e-cigarettes and "similar vapor products containing nicotine" as tobacco products. That means that their sales tax will jump from the regular 5.75% sales tax to the 70% tax that's tacked onto sales of products like cigarettes and cigars.
