Record-breaking temperatures are heating up the D.C. area, and the region is not expected to get a break from the sun on Saturday. The triple-digit trend continues, with the heat index reaching near 105 degrees. The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory until 10 p.m.
People are advised to stay indoors, if possible, and to drink plenty of water. Officials are also reminding people not to leave pets and children in the car. Cooling centers are available around the Metro area, and public spaces such as libraries and malls are good options for heat relief as well.
