Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett continues to criticize Pepco's response to Friday's storms. At the same time, he also says Pepco needs to be more aggressive with tree trimming to prevent future damage.
Since severe storms knocked out power to hundreds of thousands of customers in the summer of 2010, Pepco has been more aggressive with tree trimming, including in Montgomery County. That has angered many residents, who have lost shade and protection from trees.
Speaking with WAMU host Matt McCleskey this morning, Leggett said Pepco needs to do even more moving forward.
"I think some of our people need to understand that there are consequences for our failure to have those trees trimmed as often as we'd like to," he said.
Leggett says he thinks there's a middle ground that will address concerns of residents while allowing for additional trimming.
