Pepco is under fire after a violent storm Friday knocked out power for hundreds of thousands of customers.

D.C. mayor Vincent Gray is criticizing Pepco's restoration efforts and says the utility needs to move faster at getting the power back on for the thousands of residents still in the dark.

Gray says Friday isn't good enough — referring to the deadline Pepco has set for when it expects to have power restored for 90 percent of its customers.

Gray also says people are fed up with these power outages and believes its time for the utility to consider burying the powerlines underground, a proposal that would likely cost several billion dollars. But Gray, who lost power himself in the storm, says it's time for a "game changer."

Meanwhile, the mayor says he expects Wednesday's July 4 celebrations to take place as scheduled.
