President Obama is in Maryland today raising money for his reelection effort, according to the Associated Press.

Both the President and presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney are focusing a lot of energy on Virginia as a battleground state in November, but Maryland is proving to be fertile ground for fundraising.

The President is visiting the Baltimore area today for two events, the first a lunch gathering in Owings Mills at the home of a developer, with a seat at the table costing from $10,000 to $50,000. Then, later in the afternoon the President will speak at a hotel at the Inner Harbor.

Tickets to that event range from $250 to $10,000. Overall, organizers say they hope to raise $1 million for his reelection effort.

Meanwhile, the Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign is appealing to Republicans in Maryland for contributions. Romney's wife, Ann, will attend a fundraiser this evening near BWI airport hosted by former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich with tickets ranging from $1,000 to $15,000.
