Another charge has been filed against resigned D.C. Council Chairman Kwame Brown, this one relating to illegal expenditures on his 2008 council campaign.

Brown is charged with aiding and abetting an unlawful cash contribution expenditure, according to a criminal information document filed this morning in D.C. Superior Court.

Brown allegedly authorized a member of his campaign staff to create a "side account" out of his campaign finance funds to pay for a "get-out-the-vote" campaign, according to a criminal information document filed this morning in D.C. Superior Court.

The new charge comes one day after prosecutors filed a bank fraud charge against the former chairman. A criminal information document usually indicates that a defendant intends to plead guilty. Brown resigned late yesterday.

Brown's plea hearing in federal court is scheduled for tomorrow. No hearing date for the misdemeanor charge has been announced.
