


In Washington D.C., Memorial Day isn't just about a long weekend, holiday travel and barbecues. It's also a time to bring out the the red, white, and blue and participate in a classic American pastime — parades. While parades are a joy to behold on foot, they can cause a headache for drivers. The following are road closures across the District and Northern Virginia throughout the weekend.
Sunday, May 27, The Rolling Thunder will have their annual motorcycle ride beginning at 11 a.m. from the Pentagon parking lot, which will close the following routes:
On Monday May 28, will be the annual Memorial Day Parade, which will take over Constitution Avenue, NW and 7th Street, NW between Constitution Avenue and Independence Avenue. There will be no parking on Constitution Avenue, NW, between 7th and 23rd Streets. There will also be no parking on Virginia Avenue, NW between Constitution Avenue and 23rd Street, NW. These parking restrictions will be in effect from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m.
