Ocean City, Md. is expecting an influx of tourists this weekend, and completed the first phase of a boardwalk renovation just in time.

This Memorial Day weekend, Ocean City is welcoming the unofficial start of summer with a program called the Summer of Thanks.

Donna Abbot, tourism director for Ocean City, says it's the town's way of showing appreciation for everyone who has supported the beach resort throughout the years.

"We have expanded our sunset park party nights to Thursday night," said Abbot. "Sunday in the park on Sunday night, movies and concerts on the beach on multiple nights, our family beach Olympics and much much more."

In edition to events throughout the summer, those heading to Ocean City this weekend can partake in events like a laser light show on the beach, an arts and crafts festival, and an American flag celebration featuring a football-field-sized flag.

Also, the first phase of the Boardwalk renovation from 15th to 27th street has been completed.
