Thomas Gore is facing three misdemeanor counts of campaign finance fraud and one felony count of obstruction of justice for destroying records. According to a criminal information filed in federal court, Gore used funds from campaign A to pay candidate B. The payments, $535 of money orders, were made in another person's name.

Sulaimon Brown, a former candidate for Mayor, has accused the Gray campaign of paying him money orders to verbally attack then-mayor Adrian Fenty during the race. The more serious charge facomg Gore, obstruction of justice, carries a more serious sentence of 20 years in prison.

The court document accuses Gore of destroying a notebook containing information of these payments on March 6, 2011, the same day a front-page Washington Post article came out saying "Sulaimon Allegations Of A Quid Pro Quo With Gray Campaign."
