D.C. drivers beware: the District has installed nine new speed cameras throughout the city, and they'll start issuing tickets and fines in about a month.
The Metropolitan Police Department installed the new cameras at sites "with the highest number of crashes and injuries, calls for police service, and high speed volume," according to a statement from MPD.
The cameras went into operation Nov. 21, and the department will begin issuing citations for moving violations to those caught speeding Dec. 21. The cameras are spread throughout the city's four quadrants, although Northwest has received the brunt of the new cameras this time around.
