Montgomery County residents facing foreclosure on their homes can receive free counseling today.
The counselors are available this morning and this afternoon at the Bohrer Park Activity Center in Gaithersburg. County Executive Isiah Leggett and housing officials say scams that target homeowners facing foreclosure are on the rise.
In particular, Leggett says many are falling for advertisements that offer loan modifications for as low as two percent. He calls such offers too good to be true.
In addition to counselors who can offer one-on-one advice to homeowners, today's event also features free legal advice from attorneys for homeowners.
