Kara Kennedy, Daughter Of Late Sen. Ted Kennedy Dies

Kara Kennedy Allen, the oldest daughter of the late Sen. Edward Kennedy, died at the age of 51 Friday at a Washington-area health club, reports the Associated Press.

Her brother, Patrick Kennedy, a former congressman from Rhode Island, reported her death, and told AP, "she's with dad."

Allen was a lung cancer survivor, and had a malignant tumor removed in 2003.

Her brother told AP he thinks her cancer treatment "took quite a toll on her and weakened her physically." He says, "her heart gave out."
