Hurricane Irene is forecasted to move over the Washington, D.C. metro region late Saturday night and into early Sunday morning. Officials in the District handed sandbags to residents at RFK Stadium in anticipation of the storm's arrival.
The line of cars waiting to get in was very long, stretching all the way across the Capitol Street Bridge. There were reports earlier today that sandbags were running out, but reinforcements are expected to arrive later.
Heavy rain has started, and a flash flood warning is already in effect.
