Play associated audio

The Baltimore Sun is offering buyouts to some employees. Baltimore Sun Media Senior Vice President of Marketing Judy Berman said in a statement the company is bargaining with the Washington-Baltimore Newspaper Guild over the terms of a voluntary buyout offer.

This is the first voluntary buyout offer since 2008, says Berman.

Guild Executive Director Cet Parks says the proposal would affect about 20 positions scattered around the company, including newsroom jobs. He says the two sides would be bargaining on the matter this afternoon.

The Sun is owned by the Tribune Co., which is in bankruptcy proceedings.
