New Plan Moves Megabus, Bolt Bus, And Others To Union Station

Soon, most D.C. travelers taking intercity bus trips won't have to wonder where to board.

Many of the District's long distance buses will leave from Union Station, rather than from various locations around D.C.

Beginning next month, it won't matter whether passengers are stepping onto Greyhound, Bolt Bus, Megabus or Washington Deluxe -- all will board and disembark at Union Station. The plan, unveiled this week, will put 70 percent of the district's intercity buses at Union Station and off busy city streets.

The change will give passengers a safe, comfortable place to wait, as well as connections to the D.C. Metro, Amtrak, MARC, the D.C. Circulator and bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

The relocation agreement is part of a long term plan to turn Union Station into a cutting edge transportation hub. The finished station will have streetcar service to H Street NE, an expanded Metrorail station, a rebuilt H Street bridge and some 3 million square feet of new hotels, offices, residences and shops built over the railroad tracks.
