On Friday, Thomas agreed to pay back $300,000 dollars in district funds he was accused of spending on a luxury SUV, golfing vacations and other personal expenses.

The decision settles a lawsuit brought last month by the District's attorney general. Federal prosecutors are also investigating.

Late yesterday, D.C. Council member Mary Cheh issued a statement saying she hopes Thomas will "seriously" consider resigning from the council. Cheh also says she didn't see how it was possible for him to serve effectively, given the allegations and the settlement.

Another council member, David Catania, also says he thought Thomas should step down from his position. Thomas has denied any wrongdoing.
