A view of one of the stadiums constructed on the beach in Ocean City for this weekend's DEW Tour, an extreme sports showdown.

A week ago, the famous ferris wheel and the inlet fishing pier were the two most noticeable landmarks you could see from the Ocean City Boardwalk. But now, there's a stadium in the way; actually, it's three stadiums.

Where you would normally see people laying on beach blankets, you can now see tattooed athletes pulling daring aerial tricks and grinding out rail slides on bikes and skateboards.

The much anticipated DEW Tour has come to Ocean City, and as they say in the extreme sports world: they've gone big.

All three stadiums were built from the ground up over the last two weeks, including a massive BMX course, a Vert ramp some of the athletes are calling the "tower of power", and even a 4,000 square foot concrete skate bowl.

Maryland native and pro skater Bucky Lasek says the venue is one of a kind and raises the bar for the DEW tour.

"We're used to having events in like arenas and parking lots, but this is by far the best venue we've ever had," says Lasek.

DEW tour officials say tickets are sold out for Friday and Saturday and they expect tickets for Sunday's finale to be in short supply.

Town officials are already speculating that the crowds this weekend could rival that of Fourth of July, which is usually the biggest weekend of the year.
