Authorities are investigating the cause of an accident involving a Montgomery County Police cruiser and another car on Colesville Road around midnight July 19.

Authorities closed the road early this morning after an accident overnight in which a police cruiser collided with another vehicle.

A Montgomery County Police spokeswoman told the Associated Press that an officer was responding to a call about midnight when his cruiser collided with a car on Colesville Road near Sligo Creek Parkway.

The police cruiser came to rest on the median of the road after the crash, and the other vehicle, a Toyota sedan, ended up in a nearby driveway.

The officer and two passengers in the other car suffered injuries described as being not life-threatening. An investigation is ongoing.
