D.C. Council's Shakeup Means Changes For Metro

Council member Tommy Wells was stripped of a key chairman post, and that has implications for Metro.

By losing his seat on the Council's transportation committee, Tommy Wells also loses his seat on Metro's Board of Directors.

Council member Muriel Bowser will replace Wells, who only started serving at Metro six months ago.

This latest development is the tenth time the Board's membership has changed since November, and the changes are not over. Virginia's Governor Bob McDonnell is expected to appoint a new member to the Metro Board soon, which would force one of the current Virginia representatives to resign.
