The festivities in Old Town Manassas started at about 2 p.m. this afternoon, but veterans of July 4 celebrations here started staking out their spots on the lawn of the Manassas Museum early this morning because it's the best spot to see tonight's fireworks.

Cindy Kattner was setting up a blanket and some chairs early this afternoon, and she says the celebration in Old Town Manassas is every bit the experience of what you get in downtown D.C.

"It is, and people come from Culpeper, Fredericksburg, Stafford," she says. "People come from all around just to come to old town."

Manassas Police say the city expects a crowd of between 30,000 and 50,000 people for tonight's fireworks. The show is scheduled to start at 9:15 p.m.
