Weather Delays Third Round Of The U.S. Open

The delay meant the third round didn't start until 10 a.m., meaning leader Rory McIlroy will not tee off until close to 4 p.m.

McIlroy has a six-shot lead over his nearest competitor after setting several records yesterday.

Thunderstorms are forecast for the late afternoon and evening, which could further delay play and push the completion of the third round into tomorrow morning.

On another weather note, it’s humid today, and at least one person had to be taken from the course on a stretcher because of heat illness, so organizers and emergency personnel are reminding fans to make sure they stay hydrated.
