Fathers will be fêted aplenty over the weekend, but the Mall's Sackler Gallery is taking the holistic view. "Family Matters: Portraits from the Qing Court" features 16 ornate paintings of emperors, empresses, princes, and princesses representing three generations of the imperial family. The Qing dynasty gets the royal treatment through the end of the year.

If you want to treat Dad to some nostalgia this weekend ArtStream presents two musical trips back in time: "That '60s Play" tells a bawdy free-spirited type of tale and "The Good, The Bad, and The Money" is a comical take on the spaghetti western. Disabled actors present the productions through late June at the Rosborough Theatre in Gaithersburg.
(June 19) Best Father's Day ever!
Asking your dad to be in your band would easily qualify as one of the best Father's Day gifts of all time and Portland-based singer-songwriter Alela Diane did just that recently. The singer's husband rounds out her folksy trio on Father's Day at Arlington's Iota.
