Adopt A Trail In Maryland For National Trails Day

Events are being held nationwide Saturday, including at Rocky Gap State Park in Flintstone, and Gunpowder Falls State Park and Patapsco Valley State Park in Baltimore County.

The American Hiking Society says National Trails Day was launched in 1993. The event evolved from a 1987 report by a presidential commission that argued all Americans should be able to walk out their doors and reach a trail in 15 minutes.

Contact officials at your local park to inquire about adopting a trail for National Trails Day.
