MD Commissioner Attacked Outside Restaurant

County Commissioner Louis Brasso says he lost part of his hearing and eyesight after he was attacked outside of the Casey Jones Restaurant in La Plata last week.

Brasso says he was heading to his car around 8 p.m. when he was struck in the head with a blunt object and punched several times. He says the attacker threatened to kill him.

Police have charged Berkley Smallwood, 60, with first and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
