Part of Metro's proposal includes running weekend trains less frequently, so they would arrive during the day on Saturdays every 18 rather than every 12 -- and every 25 minutes after 9:30 p.m. The wait time for trains on Sunday would increase by 5 to 10 minutes.
Some bus routes like the N8 and E6 would be eliminated under the new proposal, while others would be extended.
Metro is also considering an idea to cut costs by eliminating the Anacostia special fare for bus riders which would increase the cost of a trip by 50 cents.
Riders can voice their opinions at a series of public hearings Metro will hold in D.C., Maryland, and Virginia this week.
