Escaped Teenager Back In MPD Custody

The city's Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services operates the New Beginnings Youth Development Center in Maryland.

Investigators say the teen escaped from the New Beginnings Youth Development Center in Laurel, Md., on April 18 after attacking a guard and stealing his vehicle.

The incident raised questions about the security of the facility. Authorities doubled overnight staffing after the escape.

This was the third escape from New Beginnings since it opened in 2009.
