Airports Authority Backs Pricier Dulles Metrorail Plan

The authority's Board of Governors voted 9-4 to implement the underground plan, which will place the Silver line station underneath the airport's main parking area. The alternative would have installed the station above ground and further from the main terminal.

The first two phases of Silver line project, which will extend Metro past Dulles airport, is expected to be complete in 2017 and cost nearly $7 billion.
