Del. Adam Ebbin introduced legislation to outlaw synthetic marijuana, also called "K2". Gov. Bob McDonnell has signed two bills doing just that.

Synthetic marijuana blends, commonly sold as "Spice" and "K2," are often labeled as incense or potpourri. The chemicals are sprayed onto herbs and spices and sold for about $10 per gram.

The legislation also covers bath salts sold under names like "Ivory Wave" and "Cloud Nine," and when ingested mimic the effects of cocaine, ecstasy and LSD.

Both synthetic marijuana and bath salts have been suspected for overdose deaths and sicknesses nationwide.
