Brittany Norwood was arrested Friday for the murder of her coworker, Jayna Murray.

With the aid of crime scene photos, the Montgomery County state's attorney, John McCarthy, illustrated the murder against 30-year-old Jayna Murray. He talked about fractures to her skull, a severed spine, and a 20-minute attack yielding wounds too numerous to count.

Although the presentation was unusual for a first court appearance, McCarthy says it was necessary to make sure the suspect Brittany Norwood remained in custody.

"It is clear that this young woman has no prior criminal record. In order for the judge to hold her without bond, it's very important for the state to outline what we thought were our public safety concerns," McCarthy said outside the court.

McCarthy added that Norwood attacked Murray with an implement or tool from the store's toolbox. Later, Norwood bound her own feet and wrists with plastic zip-ties, using her teeth to secure her hands. Police say the deception didn't work.

Norwood was ordered held without bond pending a preliminary hearing April 15.
