Fairfax County is sending a 72-member team in conjunction with efforts coordinated by the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The team is frequently called on to assist following international disasters.

Last year Fairfax team members conducted 16 successful rescues in Haiti following the Earthquake there.

Spokesman Dan Schmidt says the team will have six dogs, three doctors and 31 tons of equipment, including -- for the first time -- four inflatable boats to help with the rescue in the aftermath of the tsunami.
