Seventeen Baltimore police officers were charged Wednesday with conspiracy to commit extortion.

A joint investigation between the Baltimore Police Department and the FBI alleges that the accused were sending vehicles that had been in auto accidents to one shop in Rosedale, Md., and then the officers took payments from the shop.

Fifteen officers were stripped of their badges and apprehended Wednesday morning. Two have yet to be found.

If convicted, each could face a sentence of up to 20 years.
