ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) Gov. O'Malley is promising there'll be no environmental harm if his administration issues new permits for natural gas drilling in western Maryland. He says he would not apologize for protecting the natural environment to a greater degree than other states.

FREDERICK, Md. (AP) Two Army scientists are being honored for inventing a better mosquito trap. Brian Zeichner of the Public Health Command in Aberdeen and the late Michael Perich of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research in Silver Spring have been honored.

ST. ROSE, La. (AP) Funeral services have been set for Brian Reed, the 29-year-old brother of Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed. Brian Reed's body was recovered late Tuesday from the Mississipppi River. Services are set for tomorrow at Mount Zion Baptist Church in St. Rose.
