Red Line Metro Delays Due To Fire

Play associated audio

Metro now says both the Forest Glen and Wheaton Metro Stations are closed and that there is no train service on the Red Line beyond Silver Spring.

Earlier Tuesday, something caught fire at the Forest Glen station and filled the station with smoke. The smoke later spread to the Wheaton Station.

Passengers were evacuated from Forest Glen and a train operator was treated for smoke inhalation.

Metro is directing passengers to shuttle buses between the Glenmont and Silver Spring stations.

This post will be updated as more information becomes available.
