CORRECTION: Metro says there was no fire and that brake caused smoke but there was no fire.
ORIGINAL POST: The Forest Glen and Wheaton stations are reopening on Metro's Red Line after a train was evacuated for smoke in the tunnel near Forest Glen in Maryland.
It's an odd site to see a station so deserted as the Forest Glen Metro Station was during rush hour Tuesday, with more firefighters, police officers and Metro workers milling about than passengers.
The station is open and trains are passing through after having been delayed for about two hours. This was because a train had to be evacuated after smoke was detected in the tunnel just after 2 p.m.
Metro says a brake problem caused the smoke but there was no fire. A train operator was treated for smoke inhalation.
