Commuting in Montgomery County, Md., will soon be a little easier with the construction of a new garage at the Glenmont Metro Station.

The garage at Glenmont often fills up by 7 a.m. -- sometimes by 6:30. So Metro and Montgomery County are building another one.

The new garage will be on the west side of Georgia Avenue and it will double the number of parking spaces at the Metro station, the last stop on the Red Line.

The project to build this garage is estimated to cost $24 million or, in other terms, more than $20,000 for each parking space.

But County Council Member Nancy Floreen says if it encourages more people to use transit, it will be worth every penny.
