'Art Beat' With Sean Rameswaram

(Jan. 8-Feb. 27) MIXING BOWL Target Gallery at Alexandria's Torpedo Factory Art Center opens its 2011 exhibition season with Mixing Bowl Saturday. The exhibit delves into immigration and diversity in America with a focus on the individual stories involved in the hot-button issue. Artists from across the country provide large-scale video installations, photography, and collages that illustrate their personal views through late February.

(Jan. 8-9) MARC BAMUTHI JOSEPH & THE SPOKEN WORLD Educator, choreographer, poet and spoken word trailblazer Marc Bamuthi Joseph returns to the District's Dance Place with The Spoken World this weekend. Joseph performs solo works as well as new material Saturday and Sunday nights.
