In the District, Mayor-elect Vincent Gray has named two more members to his education team, but he will hold off on naming a schools chancellor.

DeShawn Wright will be the deputy mayor for education, while Hosanna Mahaley will be the state superintendent of education under Gray. As for the top job, chancellor, Gray cited the 2007 law that created the position in saying he isn't ready to make a decision.

"The mayor shall establish a review panel of teachers, including representatives from the Washington Teachers' Union, parents and students to aid the mayor in the selection of a chancellor. And the mayor shall consider the recommendations of the panel in selecting a chancellor. And I intend to follow that mandated process," he says.

Gray says he will not name a permanent chancellor by the time he takes office. As for the interim chancellor, Kaya Henderson, Gray commended the job she's done, heightening the speculation she will get the full-time job.

Gray also named heads to the city Department of Employment Services, Office of Human Rights and Office on Aging on Wednesday.
