D.C. Ward 3 Councilmember Mary Cheh had a serious fall while running over the weekend, and she's been hospitalized.

Cheh sustained a severe break and dislocation of her arm and wrist in the fall. She's already undergone one surgery and is scheduled to have a second operation Tuesday.

Cheh represents the Ward 3 section of Washington. She has been a law professor at George Washington University since 1979, after working in private practice in Washington.

Cheh will miss Tuesday's additional legislative meetings due to the scheduled surgery to repair her dislocated and broken arm and wrist.
