Winter Weather Advisory Hits D.C.

Play associated audio

A winter weather advisory goes into effect Thursday from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m., bringing snowfall that's expected to stick to roadways -- possibly making morning and evening commutes difficult.

The freezing temperatures coupled with precipitation are likely to produce icy roadways, bridges, and overpasses which make for extremely dangerous conditions.

D.C.'s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency say the winter weather could bring one to three inches of snow.

Officials say District snow crews have pretreated roads and say, while the predicted snowfall is considered "light," emergency crews will be on standby to handle any problems.
