'Art Beat' With Sean Rameswaram
(Dec. 15) FRIEND MONGOLIA It's Dec. 15, which means it's Mongolian Culture Night Wednesday at AED Global Theater in Dupont Circle. Washington's Friends of Mongolia presents an evening of Mongolian dance, poetry, throat singing, and horse head fiddle. No horses were harmed in the making of Mongolian Culture Night.
(Dec. 15-Jan. 16) SOUTH PACIFIC From Mongolia you can head to South Pacific at The Kennedy Center Wednesday through mid-January. The Lincoln Center Theater reinvents the classic Rogers and Hammerstein) musical about prejudice, love, and hardship in the Asia-Pacific theater of World War II.
(Dec. 15-Feb. 13) COMIC INVASION Arlington's Artisphere gets serious about the funnies in Party Crashers: Comic Book Culture Invades The Art World at Terrace Gallery on Wilson Boulevard until mid-February. The exhibit explores the acceptance of the comic as an art form, and the influence of the comic aesthetic on contemporary art.
